How To Land A Seaplane Without Water

Several years ago I spent a few weeks flying around Alaska with a bush pilot in a Cessna 180 on strait floats. The pilot taught me that this comes with the advantage of being able to land anywhere. If the engine quits over water, you land on water. If it quits over the grass, you land in the grass.

This video demonstrates this concept perfectly. Sorry for the poor quality and bad music.

This is from my trip. Those mountains are part of the Brooks Range from inside the arctic circle.

And if you're in an F-111 and the gear won't come down, you land it on the runway anyway!
